Lytoceras sp., also known as Lytoceratid ammonite, is a genus of ammonites that lived in marine environments from the Early Jurassic to the Late Cretaceous. Fossils of this genus have been discovered worldwide, including in Western Europe, Madagascar, South Africa, and the United States.
This specimen from Madagascar features fine, closely spaced ribbing on its shell, along with a beautiful purple iridescence.
